Cart-Load-O-Fun is a two-player collaborative physical game designed for trains and trams that explores the intersection between playing and performing in public and commuting on public transport.
Travelling on public transport can often be an unengaging experience. Cart-Load-O-Fun enriches the commuting experience by introducing a playful, collaborative game into the space. The game explores the ways in which games that incorporate the commuter’s body and the social context can enhance the experience of unconventional play spaces, in this case, public transport. It aims to set an example of consideration of unconventional play spaces for playful and experimental design. Cart-Load-O-Fun evokes playfulness and camaraderie in users of these spaces, and allows for a more engaging experience.
Cart-Load-O-Fun was installed onto Melbourne trams in 2012, and Sydney trains in 2013. It was desigend for my Honours degree with programming help from Ho Hsin Yang.
